When Tony first joined Enrich, he had already been involved in other community groups, but this one stood out. “I found Enrich was the best out of all of them,” he says. “It’s got a great variety and mixture of everything.”

From cycling at the Prince of Wales Stadium to fitness sessions with resistance bands and discussions on nutrition, Tony has thrown himself into the programme. “It’s all been very good,” he explains. “We’ve even learned about making certain medicines for joint health, which has been really helpful, especially in colder weather.”

Beyond the physical benefits, Tony credits Enrich with helping him regain his confidence. “It’s helped me a long way with my ability to meet new people and reconnect with old friends,” he says. Seeing familiar faces from past groups and even from his time in hospital has been a huge positive. “They can see how much I’ve progressed over the years.”

Through cookery sessions at Wiggly, Tony has also started making healthier choices. “Ryan and Tom have been really helpful, especially with nutrition,” he says. “I’ve become more mindful about what I’m eating now.” While he admits he still has one or two guilty pleasures, he believes balance is key. “It’s natural to keep one or two bad habits—in moderation.”

Tony appreciates that Enrich offers something different each week, preventing it from becoming repetitive. “A lot of groups can get mundane, but this one keeps things fresh. It’s been top marks for Clare and everyone involved.”

Among his favourite activities? It’s a close tie between Patrick’s fitness and nutrition sessions and autogenics, a technique that teaches the body how to wind down and relax. “It was great for mental relaxation,” he says.

Tony has made huge strides, both physically and mentally, and would love to continue with Enrich—though a possible move could take him out of the area. “If I stay in Cheltenham, I’d still like to carry on coming,” he says.

For now, he’s just grateful for the positive routine. “It’s just nice doing something different each week—something positive.”

At Wiggly Community Kitchen, we’re proud to provide a space where people like Tony can rebuild confidence, improve health, and find community.
